I think our
National Government is doing a bad job with their so call war on drugs. I believe
so because the illegalness of particularly marijuana is actually making the
black market stronger. If they would have legalize and regulates it not many
people would I think would turn to the black market. Another reason is that the
people that were jailed for marijuana possession is getting their life ruin for
something I think should be treated like alcohol. The people are paying taxes
to keep them in the prison and I don’t think we should be spending our tax
money on keeping those people in prison. To me having marijuana is like having
beer all the government need to do is regulates it. It not like the war on
drugs is working because many people can get marijuana easily. I think it
should be like how it is in Colorado or Washington. I think it could work on
other drugs but not marijuana because so many people now a day have gotten to
it. Also I also think it does have medical benefits particularly to cancer
patient and anxiety issue. Either way if many people lands in jail and still
many people buys from the black market then the War on Drugs is definitely not
working. It better to just regulates it and treat it like alcohol because it
keeps less people in jail which means less money spent on jail and it can keep
the black market at a weaker point than being strong during this prohibition.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading your article (and before reading it), I agree with you that marijuana should be legalized. You make a good point, American is known for the highest rates of incarceration out of any country. If we decriminalized the use of marijuana and put a tax on it, we could help with the countries climbing debt, and take care of our inmate overpopulation. As long as most careers require drug testing I don't believe marijuana usage will rise to an all time high. I believe if we changed the laws against marijuana distribution, those who are buying from dealers (who buy from dealers, who buy from cartel members) will instead buy from stores, who will buy from local growers. I think that by converting it into a nationally taxed crop we will ultimately be fighting the war on drugs, and putting those risky drug operations out of business.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with what Arvin is saying, the war on drugs has been a dismal failure, and marijuana should be legal. If marijuana were to be legalized there would be less money flowing into the black-market which then gives them less money for them to spend on guns, pay bribes and other illegal activities. I agree with you saying "...having marijuana is like having beer ..." all the government has to do is regulate laws like colorado and washington. Heck, if you walk on the beach in California you will find so many "green doctors" on the beach selling marijuana. So, i also agree with Marijuana being legal and an end to the War on Drugs.
